Kian Posted May 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2011 My wife and I are planning a family trip with our 4 and 1 1/2 year old in the near future. It will be our first RCCL cruise since Adventure of the Seas in 2006 (before we had any children). Could anyone recommend us the best neighborhood location and if possible, the kind of room you had and your experience with it. Thanks!
hgmizzou Posted May 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2011 We just got off Oasis last weekend. We had an oceanview balcony (category d5) and loved it. While on the ship, we were looking at the cp & boardwalk view cabins and commented that they didn't seem to have too much privacy. However, between the two - it depends on what you want. Quiet - go with CP/watch everything and be "more in the middle of everything" - go with boardwalk. Again, the most private option would be oceanview. Enjoy! They are FABULOUS ships!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks hgmizzou for the reply, but in our case with our kids, we would want to stay away from the private option! We would've have loved the privacy before! Do you know which neighborhood had more things going on, because I think it would be more fun for them. I was hoping someone had stayed in one of those cabins and could have given me some recommendations.
Puffinater Posted May 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2011 I would suggest the Boardwalk Balcony. During the day there are activities the kids could see and the hobby horse thing is there for them to watch and you get some view of the water. There is a ton of action on the Boardwalk (Aqua show, carousel, Johnny Rockets singing waiters, parades etc) We had a 7 year old next door and he was always on the balcony watching something. We have an oceanview in just over a week to see what we prefer but I would suspect it will be the Boardwalk.

Do you think having a cabin more aft of the ship would be more ideal?, because it seems that you also may get some ocean view.

I was on the Oasis and had a headache which i was trying to ly down and relax, when the dancing in the streets party started. I was not happy.... I would think with a 1.5 year old you might need that quiet time in your room. Go with a boardwalk view. There is stuff going on, but still quiet. The further back you go the better the view of the water but you are closer to the aqua theatre and further away from the other action. We had 8309 and we could see the water just fine. abhb Posted May 15, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 15, 2011 There is so much going on in the Boardwalk area you will never be bored just sitting on your balcony. The ship is amazing. It really is a floating city.
