lovethesun40 Posted May 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2011 A quick question for all you Carnival Cruise fanatics.......can someone tell me which ports of call have tenders in the Eastern or Western Caribbean?!!! I apologize if this is a long list, but my husband was NOT a fan, and we're trying to choose a cruise for our 20th wedding anniversary!! We had such a great experience on our first cruise (except for this) that we want to go again!! ****It would be helpful to know the tendered ports, so the "complaining" is kept to a minimum...:D:D Thank you! zqvol Posted May 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2011 The list of port that MIGHT tender is extensive: Eastern: St. Thomas - this is rare but it happens more often than most people realize especially at holiday time Tortola - not at all uncommon St. Martin - this doesn't happen as much as it used to with the new pier but it can still happen on occasion, especially if the luxury lines are in Phillipsburg instead of Marigot St. Kitts Private Island - always Western: Grand Cayman - always Cozumel - same as St. Thomas Belize - always Roatan - rare for Carnival but it does happen Don't believe anyone who tells you that it doesn't ever happen in St. Thomas, St. Martin or Cozumel. I have tendered in all of those ports within the past three years.

Colorado Kat Posted May 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2011 Some islands typically have docks, but if there are too many ships on a day, some tender. Belieze is a port that tenders very far out, and can take quite a bit of time. We just stay on the ship there.

k2excursion Posted May 14, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2011 St. Kitts is not a tendered port. We docked there last month. I suppose if there are a ton of ships there on a particular day, some ship(s) may have to tender. For those ports mentioned that could possibly tender if there are too many ships (St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Cozumel), you can check cruisett.com to see how many ships will be there on a particular day. If there's a bunch on a cruise that you're thinking of taking, you can research to find out how many that port can handle. We had 5 ships in Cozumel once, and all were able to dock, as there are 3 ports there. Also, if you are one of the biggest ships in port, there's a great chance that you won't be the one tendering. MissRabbit Posted May 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 14, 2011 i don't know if Carnival ports in Samana, DR at all, but when we went there in Nov (on NCL) it was a tendered port.
bougiet Posted May 14, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 14, 2011 The Cayman tender is sooooo short that it really isn't a bother at all. Belize, as someone else said is a long tender because of the reef.
lovethesun40 Posted May 16, 2011 Author #11 Share Posted May 16, 2011 Thank you!!! Sounds like some of the ports are a hit and miss!! The way I look at it is..... that we are very fortunate to be able to take vacations (such as cruising) and we should make the most of what gets thrown at us!!!;)
