Help B4 I Call NCL

Julma

Recommended Posts

I have a penthouse suite booked on Pearl 11/13 through NCL. Right now I have a $150 Latitude OBC. I paid with my Discover Card. After I booked I noticed a $300 OBC if I had used my AMEX. Now NCL is offering up to $250 OBC for I'm not sure what. Before I call can I change over payment to AMEX and get the OBC? Can I combine all these OBC offers? I thought I would get your great opinions so I called armed with info. Thx.

I booked a Jan 2012 cruise back in March. After I booked, I found out about the Amex OBC promo and called my TA a few days later. My TA was able to get me the additional Amex OBC. Since the booking window for the Amex OBC doesn't end until the end of July, I think you should be able to do it. I didn't put down a deposit for my cruise other than a Cruise Rewards Certificate, so if you already paid for your deposit using your Discover Card, you'll need to change that somehow. The entire cruise needs to be paid using your Amex card. Good luck.

Is the Amex OBC promo on NCL or Amex site?

Thanks,

Pat

If you used your FCC will this work? It states that deposit and final payment must be paid by AE card. Did you inquire if it will be an issue that the deposit was paid with FCC? I assume you will pay the entire bill with the AE thus releasing your FCC for future use? Just wondering as I want to do the same if it is allowable.

It never hurts to ask. The main point is that it sounds like you'd need to cancel and rebook (the new dash deal is for new bookings only). If the price of your cabin has gone up, that may not be worth your while.

I wasn't told that the FCC wouldn't be acceptable. It's still the only thing holding my reservation and I have not been told that it will be revoked/replaced by an additional $250 charged to my Amex at final payment (with the FCC then useable at a later date). So, I believe you can combine an FCC with the use of the Amex card for final payment - at least that's what I intend to do.

This is what we are doing. Our TA checked with NCL and told us it was fine.

Thought I would update. I called, not sure the person knew what they were talking about, but here goes... First, I had a $150 OBC (latitude). She stated that I could not combine the OBC offers, (latitude, AMEX, the new $250 sorry I don't know the name). However she ended up giving me a $300 OBC and I didn't have to pay with my AMEX. It doesn't add up.

Never mind... I figured it out, she just wasn't very good at explaining, which to give her some due, things change so often and everyone with different issues, it must be hard. If I figured right, I am getting 150 latitude and 150 DASH, which is what you get for a suite.

Starting to think I'm talking to myself. ;) Latitude and AMEX can be combined. I called again, why do they make it so you have to call twice?? I spoke with Michelle who was wonderful, took her time and did it right. I now have $450 in OBC. I did have to cancel and rebook, which was not a big deal.

That's great. You had to cancel your original booking that was made with the Discover card, right? Then, you rebooked using your Amex?

Correct. Because the price hadn't changed and there were no penalties, it was easy. It taught me you really have to call knowing your facts and to call again if something seems off.
