Lotus Girl Posted May 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2011 Hi We are sailing on Navigator in March and arrive back in to FLL at 6.00 am however don't fly back to the UK until 8.45 pm from Miami. Having never stayed in FLL before, can someone advise if any of the local hotels provide a "day rate" for cruisers in our situation? I know that if we had booked our flights with the cruiseline then we would have been taken to a hotel for the day, however we prefer to do our own flights (and deal with any consequences should they occur) and need to find somewhere to spend the day. If anyone can provide any information, it would be greatly appreciated. We'd rather stay in FLL for the day and try and see if for a few hours before getting ready to head to the airport and fly home. Also, how long does it take to get from FLL to the airport if we need to catch an 8.45 pm flight? Many thanks Karen
micruiser2002 Posted May 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2011 The airport is about 15 minutes from the port. You might want to just try priceline or Hotwire for an airport hotel. You could probably get something prettly cheap.
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 29, 2011 I suspect that you will need to book the hotel for the day rather than a day rate. Keith
JohninDC Posted May 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2011 Flying to the UK from FLL? You might be cruising from Fort Lauderdale/Port Everglades, but unless you are making a connection somewhere in the US I suspect your flight is from MIA. If it is MIA then there is a hotel inside the airport and I know the Embassy Suites MIA has day rates. Good luck! :)
swigso Posted May 29, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2011 Hi If you have a priceline account use them. If not register but when it asks for a US address get the Zip code from an address in Florida so you would put in your UK Billing address say 45 anystreet, Anytown State-Florida-Zip Code FL33304 You should be OK with this then I would bid $50 for a 3* at Miami airport, you should get the Marriot. Another idea is rent a car for the day it should cost you about £20 you can then do what you want. Look at buying a day pass for one of the lounges at MIA is another option.
