Question about Mobile Hampton Inn

Recommended Posts

Is walking from the Hampton Inn to the port easy to do? I know it's only maybe 1/2 mile. But are you crossing major roads? I have two boys in tow (13 and 9 - so not too young) and we'll also have luggage. Do people normally walk it? Looks like alot of big highways on the map.

Yes, it is an easy walk....we did it last year and will be doing it next week!

We have a 9 year old in tow.... Only suggestion is make sure all bags have rollers.

Easy to cross streets as the city has ramps built in to the side walks.

There are stop lights at the major intersections and you actually cross under the interstate.

Also, all very safe.

Enjoy your walk....only bad thing is the heat!

you will also have in and out priveledges in the parking lot, so we always load up our bags, drive over to the terminal drop the bags off (or even your whole crew except the driver).

Then drive the car back to the lot, park and take the short walk over with out the luggage.

There is also shuttle service available for $5 per person each way.

We also walked from the Hampton. It was August and pretty hot. Our only concern was rain. It didn't rain so all went well. twils' idea is GREAT - especially if there is rain. The driver need only bring an umbrella on the luggage-less return walk. There is a shuttle but there is a wait for it. The walk itself is very short (less than 1/2 mile) and pretty safe.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not a bad walk. For us we ended up taking the shuttle because it was raining. $5 pp wasn't to bad. I'ld take the shuttle if you have alot of luggage. You can also make arrangements for them to pick you up after the cruise. They were waiting when we go off the ship. Very happy. Hampton was a very nice hotel. Nice people and great breakfast.
