Would it be beneficial to order the soda card for my son before the cruise or just get it as soon as we board the ship? Would the actual card be in our room or would it still need to be activated at one of the bars?

Unless you plan on getting on the ship after 2pm, I would purchase it on the ship. We purchased them before sailing, was on the ship at noon.... but couldnt get into our rooms until 2. Luckily, I had printed out amenity confirmations for everyone in my group, but it was a hassle to get the soda stickers before then.

It's easy to get the soda packages as soon as you board the ship. This could well eliminate any problems with customer service with ordering before the cruise. In addition, some of the packages have insulated refillable cups in different colors and you can pick different colors. :)
