zenful6219 Posted June 14, 2011 #201 Share Posted June 14, 2011 :( For the life of me I cannot figure out how everyone here can cruise so much? I am an average person from Ohio. Not rich by any means but we have money for a trip or two. I see some taking 5 or more cruises a year. I just don't get it. Isn't it possible that some people have more disposable income than others? Sometimes, when I drive down the freeway, I'll see a Hummer pass me and I'll ask myself "Why would anyone drive a Hummer that gets 4 MPG?" The answer is because they have the money to do so. popsec Posted June 14, 2011 #203 Share Posted June 14, 2011 .... it appears that most of the people that cruise often have some common traits: no kids, appear to be older (retired), and live in Fl. That makes sense. No kids and close to port means you have more money to spend and being retired means you do not have to ask off at work. OK.....my husband and I each have a son, I'm not retired and we live nowhere near FL........and as for that "older" remark
popsec Posted June 14, 2011 #204 Share Posted June 14, 2011 Hey Popsec -- see in your signature getting a suite on Miracle. You're going to be spoiled...................... Our very first cruise on Pride they upgraded us to a Junior Suite - what a cabin!!!! Enjoy your cruises this year!!!!! We only have a suite because the casino comped us the cabin.......for us it's usually the obstructed balcony :p

Geez, with all the $ DH has left in the casino over the years :mad: I've been expecting them to comp us an ENTIRE SHIP! Slot play adds up to casino perks alot faster than table games. To be comped anything for table games you need to show the pit boss your S & S card and be playing $25 a hand for at least 2 hours every day. For the slots you just keep your S & S card in the machine while you're playing and it keeps track of your points. I think I had over 50,000 points total, which apparently earned me a comped cabin. Not sure how it all works but I play (i.e. lose) alot on every cruise and we cruise Carnival several times a year so it all adds up :p

The people who have Hummers and have enough disposable income to not care about the mileage probably are not Carnival cruisers. The posters on this thread who cruise multiple times per year seem like people who are very smart in dealing with their finances.

I have a full size diesel suv that gets 30. Yes diesel is about 10 cents more than super. And all of our other cars used super . But it the grand scheme it is only about $5 more too fill and the mileage pays off. My smaller suv average

There are a lot of Carnival cruisers with high income and high net worth.
ILuvDW Posted June 14, 2011 #210 Share Posted June 14, 2011 I was wondering the same thing so thanks for asking! I'm planning my family's first cruise and for us it's going to cost just as much as a Disney World trip!

Actually I am reading it is because they cruise the cheapest inside cabins and find great deals......it all comes down to priorities........no how they deal with their finances.... I'm planning my family's first cruise and for us it's going to cost just as much as a Disney World trip! Disney is actually cheap..go in late August..stay at their value resorts...and tell them you want the free food plan...which they are offerring again this year...and never ever use a TA for Disney...call them directly. TA's will get you rack rate deals at DW...don't kid yourself about that.
