100 days until Bermuda and we can't wait to cruise again! Now we don't have to, saw a deal, called my GF, told the boss, and we are off tomorrow! Booked 28 hours before sail time. What do you all think? Do We need professional help or what? 7 Days from NYC to Bahamas on the Jewel.

I want to be you! :D Now that's what you call spur of the moment. (And you had time to get online and post this instead of running around the house like a person with their head cut off trying to pack and prepare for the cruise tomorrow?? LOL) :)

Have a wonderful vacation!

Congrats on the cruise booking! A cruiser I sailed with twice last year is on that sailing and she for the longest time tried to convince me to book it. I wish I could do it and take the time off I needed later this year because those last minute prices were smoking!!!

Bon voyage to you!

How fun is that?! Congratulations! And be sure to come back and tell us all about the Jewel. We are booked on her in 2012. Thankfully we have a cruise coming up in 13 weeks or I'd be going crazy waiting that long!

well mitsugirly, thats what the GF is doing, running around nuts and packing like we have to evacuate for a month! I'm printing off tickets and having a beer :D. Booked a GTY on 4 to get the price, my edocs came and we are deck 9 mid.

So I'm real curious. How does one come to the conclusion in a matter of a day that "hey, you know what, I think I'll look and see if there are any deals out and if so, book right now to leave tomorrow." LOL

Where you just browsing and came across the deal? Or was you already considering it?

What type of deal did you get (not really how much you paid, but more like you save $xxxx by booking last minute). Maybe I'll start looking in the future for something like that. Although...I like to research where I'm going and put a lot of thought into it before deciding (but then again maybe you've done that and had something picked out and when it became available, just grabbed it up).

We really had no intentions at 5:30 this morning on doing this. I have a hobby (problem) with checking my existing reservation prices daily and seeing if there is something better before final. Looking at what else is out there is just something I do. Today I see inside deck 4 $399 plus $130.69 taxes and fees.....$1060 out the door for 2, 7 days, 3 1/2 HOUR DRIVE------GOTTA GO!

I see. I'm constantly looking too, but I'm always looking into the future (as in a year from now). :( You are paying about what we are paying for the 3 of us for inside deck 10 on the Spirit in 3 months. BUT, we aren't really within driving distance and the air plane tickets always cost us more than the cruise tickets.

What really adds up is all of the added expenses like what we do on shore, the daily service charge, soda cards, alcohol and so on.

Hmm... that's what I spent just about for the Epic studio to go by myself and I would have had a larger room to myself. Now you're making me really wonder if I should have gone!! :o:p Oh well... I'm sure the girls will have fun without me! Jealous!!!!

We are pretty low key anymore and can do this just to get out of town. No shore excursions, 1!!!!! picture, Ford Focus doing 39 mpg on highway, just have to worry about fruity drinks and the ever evil slot machine and blackjack table. Been to Bermuda enough to self guide and pick up a few tricks each time there so Sept. trip has cost us less each time. I may even stay on ship this time in FL and Nassau.

Yikes, when did you cruise? Or I should say when did you book? I booked around January of last year and got 2 studios for that price for 2 people. We did the Epic in September.

How wonderful!

One time I was booked on a cruise with my DD and she had to cancel since she had transferred within her organization and her new boss would not approve the vacation! So a few months later I saw the same sailing for only $299 each, deck 9 and begged my DH to go with me for that price. We had a great trip. You do the same. I just realized you are on board probably right now!

I don't gamble and I've been to the ports before (except Port Canaveral) so I wouldn't be getting off other than a beach. It's the drink (bar) bill that would get me for sure. However, no casino for me! That definitely helps to keep the costs down. :) Nassau pretty much has Senor Frogs for me. :D Giving those liver enzymes a good run for their money.

I cruised on this Spring Break 3/12/11 and it was higher because I had booked onto it fairly last minute (less than 2 months to sailing) but they still had a lot of studio cabins available. The price never came down. They really do have you over a barrel with the pricing for that. For a $200 more I could have had my own interior room. However, I wanted the room with all the features and I was happy I booked the studios because I LOVED them!!

Yea, I HAD to have the studio when I seen what they were suppose to look like. Then when I got such a great deal, we decided to book 2 and have double the space with his/her showers, bathrooms, closets and so on. I couldn't pass that deal up. I did see shortly after I booked that they were getting so popular and the prices kept climbing and never went back down. The 2 new ships are suppose to have the studios in them too. I wonder if they'll have the cool "mood" lighting. :D

I hope they do have the mood lighting and here's hoping some part of it has a balcony available - even if in a community space. The layout of the switches on EPIC were funky but the thing that got me the most on the first day was how the sink drain worked. It was in the 'down' position and needed to be tapped up in order for it to drain. I had NO clue! Hilarious in retrospect but boy did I feel like an idiot after placing a service call on it! :o
