Scalmie Posted June 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2011 Has anyone ever done the Barrier Reef snorkeling excursion with Carnival? It gets 5 star reviews on the website, but I tend to take a review on their site with a grain of salt. It's a 2.5 hour excursion but I assume that includes the bus ride and boat ride to the beach. Do you snorkel for an hour? Any feeback is greatly appreciated.
Capt_BJ Posted June 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2011 one of the nice things about Cayman is that there is really really good snorkeling a few steps away from the tender landing. If you have your own gear it costs nothing to go. If you need to rent gear, it will cost WAY less than a boat trip. Eden Rock is maybe 100 yards away ... Sunset House a mile down the road. Both are great places to snorkel or do a shore dive and save the cost of a boat trip. And you can stay as long as you like ... or as short as you like. Be on your own timetable. twinkletoes4445 Posted June 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2011 We never used a ship excursion for snorkeling in Grand Cayman. We always use Captain Marvin's. We did the snorkel/stingray sandbar trip. We did the shorter one when we were on a cruise, and the longer ones when we are on the island for vacations. Whatever you end up doing, have a great time! :) http://www.captainmarvins.com/
