Minna22 Posted June 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2011 We're meeting a private tour at 8:15 a.m. on July 19th. Our ship, the Carnival Destiny, sails from Miami on the 16th. Florida will be in Daylight Savings Time, the Caymans do not observe DST. Itinerary says we dock at 8:00 a.m. -- is that 7:00 a.m. island time, or does the ship change to local time? P.S. Tour is with StingraySailing.com -- love, love, love them!!!
JohninDC Posted June 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2011 You will anchor at 7:00 AM Island time but will need to ride the tender boats to get from Destiny (great ship!) to GC -- 8:15 might be cutting it close, but the tour operators there are used to dealing with the issue. Have a great cruise! :)
tctwhite Posted June 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2011 Grand cayman is 1 hour behind ship's time. However, the ship's time never changes. It is always on the Eastern time zone. So yes. if you dock at 8am ship's time, it will be 7am grand cayman time.
Minna22 Posted June 8, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks for the definitive answers! Am booking right away with Chip and Michele at Stingray Sailing. This is our first trip on the Destiny, she's been "remodeled" recently, right? Is the new outdoor movie screen open to the whole deck, like the Freedom? Rare Keith1010 Posted June 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2011 Be sure that you have away of reaching them just in case you are running late. There are times that the ship arrive late and remember you are dependent on tender service. Keith
