Valor - which deck is better?

Hi

This is my first cruise on Carnival. I checked the decks on this ship and it looks like deck 6 and 7 may be the best decks if you want to be away from the casino, pools, etc so would these decks be best for not hearing too much traffic going on? I usually like being in a higher level deck, but don't want all the noise. It seems that the higher decks are even more expensive. I am getting a balcony room and want to make sure that it is worth it.

I am worried about just going with a guarantee room and hope that they don't choose one of the levels with all of the noise.

Any suggestions on what would be the best level or rooms to be on this ship?

Thanks for any help!

I'm booked on the Valor this August. I chose a balcony room on the 6th deck. I have heard that you can hear noises from the pool decks when they are preparing to get them ready in the morning. I wanted to avoid that so I chose to stay on a lower deck.

Best would be deck 7 (Empress) IMO. You will have cabins both above and below you. Deck 6 is located right above public areas as well and you could get stuck right over a noisy area. Look at dragitdecks dot com and if you can choose a stateroom on deck 6 in a quiet area, then it should be okay. But given the choice, I would take deck 7: two up or two down is all to the public areas, easy access.

I don't like deck 6 - we've done it twice, once on Liberty, once on Valor. Too much noise from the Promenade deck - in the case of Liberty, from the main lounge; in the case of Valor, from the casino. I've found deck 8 below Lido to be better than deck 6 (had deck 8 twice as well). Go for deck 7 - you'll have cabins above and below you.

Another vote for Deck 7. We had that, and it was very quiet. Deck 6 can have noise coming up from the Promenade deck, depending on where the room is (right above the casino, the casino band, the dance club, the aft lounge, etc). Deck 8 is the one that could have noise from the above lido deck (Deck 9), when they are setting up chairs. However, if you go with one of the forward rooms on Deck 8, there will be only rooms above and below you there as well. So that would be a good spot. But higher decks don't get anything special that lower decks don't get. If you want less foot traffic outside your room, choose a room that's farthest away from elevators, so that very few people will be passing by your room to get to theirs.

We fell in love with staying on the lido deck our last cruise. Absolutely no problem with noise and we were right near the elevators. It was sooooo convenient to the pools and food and nice to be able to use our own bathroom when needed.

One more vote for deck 7. It was great having only cabins above and below us. Sometimes we heard noise from the Lido deck when we were on the balcony but when we had the balcony door closed we didn't hear a peep. We loved, loved, loved it!

Deck 6 has too many cabins that are in "noise zones" and looking at deck plans will not really help- look at the deck plans-there is a band that sets up across from the casino bar- and there is nothing on the deck plans that show you this.

The best desk is Empress Deck- between cabin space.

For us the best one was 7411 which is a cat 8B so we are not paying much more money for being one cabin over- located near the stairs/elevators. Up two decks for food/pools down two decks for entertainment.

Never an issue with noise from the elevator. (had this cabin on the Liberty twice and the Freedom once

We recently were on the Valor on Deck 8 aft balcony (8449) and I did have concerns about being right below the Lido. I did occasionally hear a chair scrape but nothing unbearable and I would stay there again as it was a wondeful stateroom. Having said that, Deck 7 would be my first choice, but would have no reservations about stateroom 8449 again.

Deck 7 is my DH choice and that is where we are booked on the Valor next month. You are right in the middle. Not too far from anything. I like the Lido deck. I find it convenient to the pools and casual food places. The thick sliding doors keep the noise away. However, its a bit farther away from places such as the theatre, MDR, gangway, etc.

We have booked all of our cruises on Deck 6 or 7, however, you have to be choosy on Deck 6. Both decks are centrally located and its easy to "walk" the stairs to get most everywhere with the exception of Lido (unless you want some exercise...LOL). Just watch out for what your cabin may be above on Deck 6. We try to book over the gift shops......silence all the time, never had any noise whatsoever. Deck 7 is a no brainer, with rooms both above and below you, so they are always quiet (with the exception of hall noise from pax which can happen on any deck). Enjoy, whatever you choose.

I always stay on deck 2 in a 1A cabin, but since Carnival discontinued single pricing I decided to get a suite on deck 7. I'm sharing it with a friend who also usually gets a 1A. We're paying the same price to share a suite as we each would pay for a 1A this year.
