RicardoC Posted April 12, 2013 Author #51 Share Posted April 12, 2013 This is too funny! I had to do the same just to stay sane. :D This is a shame, as Miracle is one of the best designed Carnival ships! Anyway... MSC has a state of the art in comparison to CCL. That is true hahahah I really think the Fantasia Class represents a "new" era for them and that's why I really want to try one of those ships...we'll see! The Favolosa was the same. No idea how they managed to put so many colours and patterns in one area and yet it still managed to be dingy if some what distracting to look at. I felt like the vertical hold in my eyes was on the blink. I believe Joe Farcus is to blame for these "eclectic" designs on Carnival and Costa. People tend to defend Farcus saying his design reflects Carnival's style and purpose, which makes sense, but in all honesty the first couple hours onboard their ships are always a mix of confusion, headache... We eventually get "used" to it but then if you compare it to other ships it's almost like two distinct experiences...that's why we've had friends hate their first cruise (Carnival) and I preach that they try another line...you know, saving the industry ;):p I didn't know Farcus wasn't responsible for the Breeze; that explains its "cleaner" look...good job, Carnival!! I agree the Miracle's design (as in plans) was great; i wish they'd build more ships based on those than the "horrible, old, tiring, Triumph, Destiny, and every other ship ever since" kind of design :o

sthelder Posted April 14, 2013 #53 Share Posted April 14, 2013 I am also interested to know more about the Barcelona--Dubai sail, read story about how RCCL employs gunboat escort and restricted lights at night...interesting

I hope I'm able to do the Suez Cruise live...they do have a mandatory "Pirate Drill" the day before we sail through the Red Sea/Indic Ocean; that's when they talk about the restrictions. Can't wait...I'm so curious about it hahahah. Even if I'm not able to do it "live" stay tuned to a review on the Royal Caribbean boards :)

That's the Agora Open Air Museum, situated in the very middle of the city.

RicardoC Posted April 22, 2013 Author #58 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Ricardo ... Thanks for that we have been wondering how we missed it on our visit to Izmir! after all we walked from the port to the main area where the clock tower is ... and back again. No problem! I think it was fairly far (as in not possible to walk there and back)...we took a cab to drive us around but most people went to Ephesus (which we had previously been to).
