Hurry&Wait Posted June 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Just a word of caution for those of you whom venture over to St John on July 4. On the 4th, Cruz Bay has its own celebration. They shut down the main thoroughfare through the town. While it is a very fun celebration to include a parade, lots of eating and drinking etc. it will make it almost impossible to get from the North shore beaches back to the ferry terminal (no taxi’s etc. can make it through the parade). I have first hand knowledge of this problem because my wife and I encountered it last year. We were lucky enough to be able to jog from Mongoose Junction, through the parade and to the ferry. We saw some fellow travelers whom could not return their rented Jeeps back to Cruz Bay because the police had barricaded the roads. Again, this only occurs on July 4 so you will not run into this problem on any other date. Kenny
