Upsell call

What do you mean by counter offer?

offer less than they are asking for.

From what I know these people contacting you do not have the authority to accept a counter offer .. but their supervisors do .. so it doesnt hurt to make a offer if you are willing to walk away otherwise.

I used to see people countering .. but not lately.

They cannot accept it while talking to you but have heard that sometimes they go to their supervisors a little later and call back with a new offer.

Apparently though it does not happen very often only when they do not have success finding sometime to accept their original offer.

Going on a cruise August 6th with a balcony stateroom (I booked directly with Carnival) got a call last Friday (June 24) from carnival wanting to upgrade me to a fancy suite for 250 per person, I said it was too much and said I would do it for a total of $200 for 2 people; the agent came back with a counter offer of $200 per person. I didn't take the offer.
