Hilton Moorea or Bora Bora

Yes, when we were there a year ago we spent an afternoon at the Hilton Moorea. It costs about $70 pp as I recall, and that includes use of the pool and lounge chairs/towels, and use of snorkel equipment. We brought our own snorkel equipment from the ship. It also includes lunch at their lovely outdoor cafe on the water. Well worth it, in my opinion.

As I recall, we stopped at the Hilton on the day the ship docked. We had rented a car that first day. We inquired about a day pass at that time. The next day we took a cab to and from the hotel from the pier where the PG was docked. It is on the same side of the island, not far. We simply used our credit card to pay the fees when we arrived on the second day. We asked the hotel to call a cab for us when we were ready to go back to the ship.

I don't think they need advance notice - you can just walk up to the lobby and ask for the day pass. I have heard of cruise passengers sneaking on to hotel properties to swim and snorkel, and being unceremoniously escorted off the property - would not suggest that...........

The next time we go back, we will be taking the 7 day cruise, combined with at least 4-5 days at the Moorea Hilton.

We also spent the day at Hilton Moorea as an independent excursion during our PG cruise. We taxied to the hotel from the tender pier (just a very few taxis available) with our PG snorkel gear in tow, with the intent of buying a day pass. I had contacted the Hotel Concierge before we left on our cruise so I knew this was possible (6000 cpf). Not sure how or why, but when we inquired about the day pass at Reception, we were offered full use of the resort, swimming pool and beach at no charge, as long as we purchased lunch. Done deal! We enjoyed a wonderful day of relaxation, superb snorkeling and a lovely lunch. Others have described snorkeling in the waters in front of the hotel as world-class. I definitely agree.

I hear Taxis are hard to get. Would this be a real problem and also how much can we expect to pay to get to and from the Hilton?

The PG does a hotel /beach day at the Intercontinental Moorea including transfers for $120 US including lunch and transport but is the Hilton better?:)

Sasha, we were lucky to find a taxi at the Moorea dock as they are not always available there. We asked the hotel to call us a cab on the return. I don't remember the exact fare, but I think it was in the 1200 cpf range each way. Hilton Moorea also runs a hotel shuttle (paid), which the Concierge initially offered to me but then he never responded to my further e-mails about it. You may have better luck on that! The day pass is 6000 cpf pp which includes lunch - either appetizer + main or main + dessert. No beverages included. So the package at Hilton works out to about $87 pp, considerably better than the IC thru PG at $120 pp. And word on the vine is that snorkeling is superior at Hilton.

Many Thanks, I will try and contact Hilton and organise a pick up from the wharf as am worried about the taxi. Thanks for the heads up. By the way how far away is the Hilton as I was wondering what time to leave to ensure we are back for sailing at 5pm. What time do we need to be on board?;)

We just got back last week and did the Hilton day pass. The Hilton is about 20 min. from the dock. We had no problem getting a taxi. It cost $25 USD there and $30 USD back.

Make sure you ask the front desk upon arrival for the day pass. We did not and were made to order dessert at lunch. The day pass includes all outdoor facilities and a two course lunch. The snorkeling was good. Not as good as an excursion but good. I saw a Sting Ray, Moray Eel and a HUGE fish.

The hotel will call a cab for you but set up a time when you get there. At each dock sight there is a schedule of when the tenders leave. Hope that helps.

We went to the Hilton last week and reception welcomed us with no mention of the day pass. We did tell them that we intended to lunch there and did so overlooking the water and enjoy their facilities. Food was fairly good and DD also enjoyed a massage. We spent a fairly pleasant day.

We do have details of a taxi driver - he charged us $25 each way in a clean large van. Since we were 6 it was a steal. If you want the details /email I will post it on your thread. We had used him about 4 years ago and my DH who remembers everything walked straight up to him and called him by name (Teva). He is reliable and came to pick us up a good 15 minutes earlier than requested. Then raced to the pier so we could catch the earlier tender back. We were able to get the 3.40 tender so made a comfortable return for a 5 o'clock departure. Try and pack before as the 9.30 Moorea show is pretty good.

One thing I noticed at both Sofitel and Hilton in Moorea. Reception staff asked in the nicest way possible about what we had for lunch! I think this is a way of checking on guests who freeload. I noticed the Hilton restaurant was fairly packed for lunch. Not so the Sofitel though I felt food was better at the latter.

  • 3 months later...

We had contacted the Hilton ahead and had the concierge reply ... however when we went there they told us to have lunch and enjoy the facilities.

I will try and get Teva's address to you . When are you going?
