Sailing on Pearl.....

Hi folks,

 

Just a quick question really. I'm due to sail on the Pearl on October 16 and wondered if NCL provide free sea-sickness medication, like Meclizine?

Reason I ask is that I sailed on HAL last year and tablets were freely available from Guest Services.

 

Hopefully someone can provide an answer for me :D

 

Looking forward to it, the cruise not the seasickness, and it'll be my first time on NCL.

You can go to Walmart or any store and purchase some Bonine ! They work great and are very cheap.

Yes, go to the Guest Services desk and ask. They will run through the 3-4 questions they need to ask about your health history. Then they will give you a couple of packages with two pills each. Bon Voyage!

Personally, I would never trust they would have them. The generics are less than $10 and worth hundreds if you need them, and thousands if no longer available.

Another point here is that the pills really don't work for some people unless you start taking them early. My DW takes them, but starts the day before we board. When she waits until boarding, they don't seem to help her as much.

They do serve ginger tea on board at no charge which is also an effective antidote for some.

I will be on the Jewel in 2 weeks and I'll see what they have. If I remember correctly last time I sailed NCL they sold Bonine in the gift shop. Of course, I bring it with me because it would be my luck they ran out or something.

nope Walmart hasn't exactly reached Scotland although I think there are a couple branded as Asda Walmart around. Not anything like the US version from what I gather :-)

Bonnie costs about $5 at all the major drug chains. I picked it up at the QFC supermarket in Seattle

 

Take one a day starting on the day of departure and you should be fine
