Carolina Cruiserr Posted July 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2011 I have booked the pre-cruise tour to Cappadocia prior to my Oct 1 sailing from Istanbul to Barcelona. Has anyone done this extension or planning to do it? I started a role call some time ago, but no one ever posted. Some insight from previous visitors would be appreciated. billie5 Posted July 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2011 I don't know how much this helps, as I have never been there (but it is on my bucket list). However, I have met a number of cruisers who have been to Cappadocia (just met another on our June cruise), and every one of them loved it. I envy you!!! Mura Posted July 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2011 We did Cappadoccia in February 2000 as a one week trip extension from our Renaissance cruise (on the R5, now Nautica). We were on a private tour -- just the two of us and our guide with driver. (We had wanted a small group tour but in our situation the days didn't coordinate and for $100pp more we had a private tour rather than a small group.) This area is fabulous. I can't vouch for the group situation but this area is unlike anything you've ever seen. Mura
mmark14 Posted July 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2011 We spent three nights at a cave hotel post cruise two years ago, booking through a private tour company. This area of the world is truly a natural wonder with rich history. Definitely book a hot air balloon ride. Your visit will be a unique experience. Enjoy,
Judyumcer@aol.com Posted July 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2011 We did a post cruise there last year with another couple. Had Ekol Travel arrange our tour. It was well worth it. This area is awesome. If you don't know about it; google it. We stayed at a cave hotel as well. So glad we went there!
JBVols Posted July 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2011 We took the pre-cruise tour to Cappadocia as arranged by Oceania prior to our Black Sea Cruise. It was the highlight of our trip. The tour was well organized and I thought a pretty good value. We had approximately 18 on the tour and built up a relationship that carried over onto the ship. We even had a reunion party however in horizons at the end of our cruise. The best advice I can give is don't miss Cappadocia.
