new solo

Hello all! I'm a seasoned cruise veteran from when I was married. I'm recently divorced, and am contemplating my first solo cruise for a 50th bday gift to myself this fall. Will try to snag a last minute deal to Europe as I haven't been there since I was a teen and feel I need to do this for myself.

I'm very comfortable with the concept of cruising solo. I'm more interested in the sights of Europe versus the shipboard experience. I'm very active, and will want to spend as much time in port versus experiencing shipboard life. That being said, I'm very gregarious and never shy away from meeting new people.

I approached this board with great apprehension tonight, but loved to see the difference between "single" and "solo".

Price is my biggest barrier. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Vickie

Hi Vickie,:) welcome and I see in your signature you have sailed many

times with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. I am a Celebrity gal myself:D

Not sure if you know, but both lines charge double for a solo....

but they do offer what is called a "Tuesday Happy Hour" and some

cruises are 150% Single Supplement, rather than the 200%.

Actually I saw some for this coming Tuesday...you have to book

on the day of the Special and they are usually between 4 and 6

away so you have to be able to go last minute. There are 4 cruises

listed for July 19th....sometimes they have alot more than this but

it varies....supply and demand.

Here is a link and hope it helps a bit.:)
