Transfer of luggage to ship

Recommended Posts

On our Caribbean cruise in Jan we didn't see our cases after airport check in until we were in our cabin which was great! Does this procedure apply to all cruises, we are flying to Palma and I am hoping to avoid this airport as much as I can, always seems so busy. Am assuming that you still need to go to the cruise desk to collect the cabin labels to attach to the bags too?

:)

Don't know who you are sailing with ,if Thomson you will have to get your case at the airport as there will be people on board not on the cruise when you fly to the Caribbean all passengers are on the ship so all luggage goes direct to port side. When you get to the port terminal you are given a sticker with your room number on and a coloured sticker ,you put them on your luggage and leave it on the dockside then crew deliver it to your cabin.Likewise on going home your luggage is taken night before and you pick your cases up from the dockside and put them on the bus yourself and then take them into the airport as you would on a normal hotel holiday.

Hi

Our experience was, we collected our luggage at Corfu airport, went to Cruise desk, given cabin stickers to stick on our cases, loaded them onto the Transfer coach and that's the last we saw of them until they were waiting for us outside our cabin when we boarded the Ship.

Hope this helps:)

We collected them in Palma Airport, handed over to coach driver, took off coach into Cruise Terminal - given stickers. Left outside with stickers on and were delivered to cabin after about 2 hours. Similar in reverse. :)

when you fly to the Caribbean all passengers are on the ship

Sorry, but that is not true, there will be people having a holiday, as well as people doing a stay and cruise, all of which will not be going straight to the ship.

Thats why the luggage labels are given BEFORE the flight, so they can be seperated on the plane, so those cruising have their luggage taken straight to the ship, whereas those staying have their luggage unloaded and they go through immigration and collect luggage as normal.

Can only comment on our experience on our P.O cruise before xmas all the flight were on the cruise.Yes after putting on your stickers and cabin number at Corfu you leave your cases at the terminal building and they are delivered to your cabin very quickly as well, then you can either walk to the ship 5mins or get on the shuttle bus.We had a late flight back and our luggage was out in front of the ship all day but there is always someone there looking after it maybe not a good idea to put any chocolates in the cases though as it was hitting the high 30's when we were there.
