Bounce Posted July 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2011 Our ship arrives at San Basilio port in Venice on a Friday at 7:00 a.m. We would like to catch a taxi to the airport around 8:00 a.m. for an 11:30 flight. Any problem just walking off and catching a taxi? Will there be plenty of taxis as in other ports?
Queenzena Posted July 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2011 Did exactly that this past Friday. No problem finding taxis at debarkation. Just make sure you agree on a price BEFORE you get in the vehicle. It should be no more than 45 euros.
riffatsea Posted July 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2011 Hmm? I thought that taxis in Venice have meters so cannot agree on a price ahead of time. It is not a flat rate.
Bounce Posted July 19, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted July 19, 2011 Thank you .... I thought I read somewhere you must pre-book a land taxi. Didn't sound right - every port I've been to always had taxis waiting.

Taxis should be waiting at the end of the building and someone controlling the flow waiting at the door. We were in a cab heading to the airport less than 10 minutes after stepping off the ship.
