E Heffa Posted July 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2011 I've really been thinking about doing a solo cruise and have always drooled at the Seabourn cruises. If I'm going to have to spend extra money for being a solo, I might as go all out, right? What really makes Seabourn worth the increased price in itineraries? I would probably do a 7-10 day Carib round trip out of MIA or FLL.... Thanks for any pearls of wisdom.
JaneBP Posted July 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2011 I generally travel alone and Seabourn provides a wonderful experience with individualized attention. Here's a recent thread to start you thinking: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1446947
NEOPHYTUS Posted July 24, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2011 Price wise, Seabourn would not qualify as single friendly. The sole occupancy supplement is 150% or 175%, the latter being more the standard. From a value perspective Silversea, with a comparable product, now advertises many cruises for a 110% to 125% single supplement and a generous OBC with potentially thousands of savings for solo cruisers depending on cruise. It depends on your preferences if the premium is acceptable. For what its worth, met two solo cruisers on a recent Seabourn cruise, who "jumped ship" to Silversea because of the difference, while another remains committed to Seabourn. lord of the seas Posted July 24, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2011 If you view this purely as a financial thing then the cheapest for a single traveller would be Silversea, but if money is not an issue, which is how you should really look at this, then Seabourn will offer a better environment for the single traveller. JaneBP Posted July 24, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2011 I also suggest that for your first cruise you should consider one of the little sisters. Their environments are much more conducive to meeting people and personalized service. IMHO!

wripro Posted July 24, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 24, 2011 What's great for single cruisers on Seabourn are the hosted tables at dinner. You will surely be invited to many of these and it's an excellent and easy way to meet your fellow passengers.
