Carnival Freedom - yeah or nay?

Recommended Posts

We're looking at possibly sailing on the Carnival Freedom later this year. How old is this ship? Any pros or cons to sailing on her? We're looking for an aft balcony cabin. Any areas to avoid? This would be the firs time we've sailed with Carnival if it all works out. Thank you!

absolutely LOVED the Freedom for the most part, with the exception of always getting myself stuck in the cigar bar trying to get to the dining room. She's a beautiful ship, and the aft wrap balconies are great!! I've had friends on deck six aft wraps and deck 7 aft wraps.. I think I like the layout of the deck 7 better, but the deck 6 balcony was MONSTROUS compared to deck 7 ( 7 didn't wrap as far)

We loved the Carnival Freedom. We sailed her in 2007 and 2008. It is one of our favorite ships. I liked it better than the Dream. We actaully won in the casino. Supper club is Wonderful. I think you will like this ship.

You will love the ship - We have sailed the Freedom twice (Jan 09 & Jan 11) We had an aft cabin and a suite. We have also sailed the Valor twice and the Truimph twice :)

The ship staff was wonderful, although will most likely switch over before you set sail.

The Steakhouse is well worth the extra money, the pool area was never too crowded and the big screen TV is a nice touch.

We never book a cruise for a specific ship - we usually look at the itinerary then the ship....

I'm not saying the Freedom is bad, but looking at the long list of awesome cruises in your signature, I think the Freedom might be a bit of a disappointment. It'll be fine as long as you have an open mind and look forward to trying something new.

We sailed the Freedom a couple of years ago and had a blast. It was our 1st Carnival cruise and we had reservations after sailing RCCL and NCL, but they were unfounded and we actuallly will be sailing CCL again this Thanksgiving.....GO Steelers!

Another 'yes' vote here. I stayed in an aft balcony (not a wrap) on deck 7 - nice balcony and you can't beat the views, but there was no sofa in that cabin, if that matters to you, just two chairs. Fine entertainment, excellent food, neat facilities - I'd sail her again in a minute.

Btw, I also stayed in a 1A cruising solo - one of the cabins that has portholes. It didn't have a king bed, just a twin and a sofa, but it was very spacious for just one person.

Let Freedom ring! :)

We were on her in May 2007, her 7th sailing ever. Loved the ship! So easy to get around, lovely decor, and I'm sure not the same staff, we loved our dinning room waiter/staff, and would highly recommend her to anyone!

YEAH ... definitely yeah! First cruise for us and we loved the ship - would definitely sail her again. Our room was deck 7 balcony (#7430), close to aft wrap, and it was very quiet. We have booked the extended balcony rooms for our next 2 cruises.

No areas to avoid other than maybe the casino if you like hanging on to your money. Our favorite places to hang out were Serenity, Comedy Club, and eating up in the fish & chips area. Very quiet up there. ;)

Yeah! For sure! I think Freedom was either built or launched in 2007, so fairly new for a cruise ship. I sailed a year ago on her, and had a wonderful cruise, no cons that I can think of. Loved the Serenity deck, and just cant find one thing that I can say I didnt like. But Im easy to please. Of the 5 Carnival ships I have been on, it has not been my favorite decor, a bit disjointed or odd in places, but not unsettling and certainly not a complaint. I have only had inside, Oceanview, or Porthole rooms, never had the pleasure of a balcony ( yet ), so cant comment on the best area for your stateroom choice. So for Carnival Freedom, I can only Yeah Yeah Yeah!:D
