I could use a little help from the Carnival Faithful

DH and I are considering a 6-day Western Caribbean cruise in February 2012 on either the Freedom or the Valor. Both have the same itinerary; Key West, Grand Cayman, & Ocho Rios. Both have the same Sunday to Saturday time frame, both are close in price, and airfare to either Miami or Ft Lauderdale from our home airport is about the same. It doesn’t really matter which week we go; the Freedom leaves on February 19th, and the Valor a week later on the 26th of February.

I’ve looked at the member reviews for both ships, and it seems that both have gotten either “Love it” or “Hate it” (Although I have to admit that the one reviewer that said something about the “Floating Statue of Liberty Heads” on the Freedom creeping her out kind of creeps me out as well).

Is there any reason I should pick one ship over another?

The decoration on the Valor is a bit over the top. A little too patriotic for my taste. Besides the Statue of Liberty masks, there are president faces in the atrium and gold eagles and US flags all over. Just too much
