blanquita79 Posted July 31, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2011 We are planning on spending two nights in NYC prior to our cruise departure. The parking here is cheaper than at our hotel (which only has Valet parking available - $65/night). Would it be feasible to park here immediately upon arrival and take a taxi to our hotel? Then we would just leave the car parked there the entire time. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
njhorseman Posted July 31, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2011 The $30/day lots are for cruise parking only and as a general rule are not going to be open for parking on a day when a ship is not in port.

patseacruiser Posted July 31, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2011 If a ship isn't in port the lots are not open. At least that has been my observation when I went there for something on a day there was no ship in. If a ship is in, you can park there. Check the schedule. Brighton Line Posted August 1, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2011 They do ask what ship you are going on when there is more than one ship in port the day you arrive. Pointless for my last cruise since we left from Pier 90 where we parked but arrived back at 88 and lugged our bags between piers.
njhorseman Posted August 2, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2011 There's no need to call anyone. The port schedule is published here: http://www.nycruise.com/documents/NewCruiseSchedule_2-15-2011.pdf But...if you park your car in the lot designated for another cruise, when you come back and have to retrieve your car you might find that lot isn't open, because it wasn't the one used for your cruise.
