Help me: It's been a while...best time to book airfare

I note someone mentioned Feb 5 would be high? Anyone know the reason? We are from Canada and booked our cruise for Feb 5 but will be flying Feb 4. Last time we got screwed by booking cruise for start of superbowl in Miami! I thought I had avoided issues this time.
