Hi everyone, Another question, if we are in a port & choose not to do an excursion but just wander about on shore, will we be able to return to the ship anytime we want, or will we have to stay ashore for a specific amount of time? So glad to have found this site, so many questions have been answered already :)

When in port you can come and go as you please 24 hours every day.

If the ship is docked, you can walk on and off as often as you want. In tender ports, the tenders run about every 15 or 20 minutes and you can take them as often as you want. Just be sure to be back onboard in time.

Many ports lend themselves to DIY visiting. You may dock right in the downtown and step off the ship into the tourist area. You can go back for lunch and return to town after if you wish. Visiting the Ports of Call page will give you an idea of what ports you are visiting may be done DIY.

You can come and go as you please. Quite nice when shopping, and you want to drop off bags, freshen up, grab something cool to drink, and head back out.

Actually, the ice-cream machine is often the first stop back for my daughters, when we have been out on a hot day.

You can come and go as you're pleased, you can come back for lunch/nap and get off the ship again.

If the ship is anchored, not docked, you may have to wait a little to get on the boat to the shore - first they let off passengers who bought their tours. Some ships will give tender tickets to control the crowds.

In the evening, make sure to come back on time - 30 or 60 minutes before sailing. It will be on the daily schedule.

have been on cruises where some passengers dont get off in most of the ports...so its YOUR choice!!

i love when the ship is docked and close to things and you can just come and go so easily in the hrs that you are docked there if you just want to walk around and not have anything planned.

tender ports always seem a bit more inconvenient going back and forth so we usually always have something for a 'tender' port to keep us gone for a good amount of the time that we are there.
