nlooser Posted August 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2011 My wife and I are trying to choose a cruise for late-January, 2012. We've got it narrowed down to two. The stops are either places we've already been or similar new places. The difference comes down to Grenada on one cruise and Barbados on the other. Can someone convince me one way or the other? Why? Thanks!
OCruisers Posted August 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2011 For your first cruise to either port most will tell you Barbados. Since you've never been to Barbados, that would probably be best since you have lots more options of what to do in port there. We've been to Barbados many times and to Grenada several times and like them both.
barbados Posted August 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2011 Two different worlds separated by a hundred and fifty miles. My impression of Grenada is primitive, but yet, not. Raw, rugged beauty. A south American influence. Forests of spices that you can smell as soon as you dock in St. George's. Nutmeg and cacao plantations. Wonderful scuba nearby. A great island with great people. Barbados: Very British, but not. Sophisticated. The highest literacy rate in the Caribbean. Beautiful beaches. Scenic delights abound. Exquisite golf courses, hotels and restaurants. So much to see and do, you'll never begin to scratch the surface in a day or a week. Wonderful, friendly people. A person really needs to see both of these islands. There is no best, or least, in this choice. We love them both. Flip a coin and then come back and see the other one next time.. Neither one should ever be missed.
