Kissed My Aft Goodbye

I just booked my first cruise with X. I have 20+ cruises with multiple lines. I had my first aft balcony booked on RCCL Serenade and I cancelled it for a C3 room on the Summit. Saved about $500. Good idea or bad?

Since it is aft cabin on Serenade of the Seas, I am assuming that it is D-1 which is larger than a concierge class cabin on Summit and also has a much larger balcony. If they were the same price I would have kept the aft D-1 on Serenade but to save $500 I might have done what you did. However, if it is concierge class cabin on Summit that is under the overhang I would have kept the aft D-1 on Serenade even though it costs more.

I checked the overhang and it appears to be ok. We are on the 8th floor and the 9th floor is completely covered. Our aft balcony did have a bigger balcony but I thought the trade was worth it. We also like the itenerary better on X.

vsstrom, if you are on Deck 8 you will be fine because this problem only exists on Deck 9. To save money and sail on a ship where you prefer the itinerary I would have also been willing to give up a slightly larger cabin and a much larger balcony.

Great idea!!! We love Celebrity and it's our favorite cruise line! You know that the C1's on summit have huge balconies as well right? Everyone loves those afts. I have 6143 booked on the Summit for December (C1) and it has a bigger cabin and balcony. Really looking forward to that.

Some of the cabins have bigger balconies than others. Here's a list for you to see if one is available for your sailing.

S1-6131,6132,6145,6146

C1-9201,9164,9162,9160,,8185,8176,8172,8170,7203,7212, 7208,7206,6135,6136,6143,6144

C2-9043,9038,8045,8046

2A-7049,7080,7163,7166,7171,7173,7175,7177,7174,7176, 7178,7180

2B-8161,8146,9173,9138

2C-6016,6018,6020,6021,6022,6023,6024,6025,6026,6027, 6029,6030,6031,6033,6035,6053,6048

I agree that the Summit has great itineraries. That's why we are going with it over the Eclipse out of Miami (which we went on last year).

Enjoy your cruise.

We're in 8171. I see it's not on the list.

When is your sail date? Don't get me wrong, all CC cabins are good and the cabin itself is larger than a regular verandah cabin. It's the balconies that are larger for some. My first trip on the Summit I had a CC cabin that wasn't one of the larger balconies. I didn't have a clue that there were some cabins with larger balconies back then. Here it is so you can see what I'm talking about (I was in 7192).

You can check and see if any of the cabins on the list are available. None of them are in the C3 category.
