Mollythedolly Posted August 11, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted August 11, 2011 Thank you very much Jim the Scot for this great information, quite a selection, have just booked cruise, Med Medley, with AI. Wondered if you had any tips on ports of call. Either good value for money ship excursions or on doing your own thing. Ports of call are: Palma Genoa Livorno Calvi Sete Barcelona
Rare Jim The Scot Posted August 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2011 Your welcome Molly Never done an organised trip, always do our own thing which in all honesty isn`t a lot. We`ll have a walk into town,shops/coffee/beer that type of thing. Were not the touristy visit castle, cathedrals, museum type folk.If your like us they are all do it yourself but it really depends what your looking to do.if you want to go further afield organised trips are probably best Genoa-much depends on where your docked but do it yourself....We were docked a good 20 min walk from the marina/sea life centre.Shorter walk you can get on the open top tour bus Livorno-not much memories of this place Calvi-Again do it yourself. Its a tender so your dropped off virtually in the town. Sete-Although it was on our itinerary we didn`t get there,we were re routed to Toulouse Barcelona-Do it yourself,we were fortunate enough to be docked at the trade centre which was a short walk to Las Ramblas.I`ve read others who were docked the other side of the bridge which meant a 25/30 min walk to Las Ramblas. However there is pay shuttle bus. Sorry, not a lot of help but not much good at these port reports but there others on here who are and I`m sure they`ll be along to give you a more.In the comprehensive review..In the meantime click the link Ports at the top of the page you`ll some port info there. infoqueen Posted August 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2011 Barcelona there is loads to do and see we have now been 3 times and still stuff to go to. This time we caught the tube up to the spanish village and spent a couple of hours walking round in there its very safe and calm. You can use the hop on hop off bus and visit the Parc Guell designed by antonio gaudi thats a lot of fun or visit the nou camp (Barcelonas football ground) The olympic village, la grada famillia cathedral (excuse spelling)-great for photos, just watch the pickpockets and be aware of who is around you. Also you can go inside the Christopher columbus statue, we ran out of time but will do it next time oh and wear a pair of comfy shoes.!! Genoa also has a hop on hop off bus its qute pretty inside the city we wish we had got off at the fountains but didnt. You will enjoy this cruise
