Venice-PeopleMover-how far from the ship?

My understanding is that PeopleMover can bring us from the P. Roma to port area. But, how far from the exit we'll have to schlep suitcases (each have 1 + 1 bag) to the ship?

We sail on Ruby Princess on 9/26.

And if this is too far, how much taxi from P. Roma might cost? Will it take us directly to the ship?

350 yards. Level, no bridges, easy. Taxi takes you to luggage drop. Probably 15-20 euros for 5 minute ride.

Just did this from the Ruby. On the first day arrival 1pm (no disembarkment day), we walked it with dozens of people who opted out of the $15 water taxi option offered by Princess. We went down the gateway and walked out of the port to the People Mover. It was 10-12 minute walk. The People Mover was 1 euro and lasted all of 2 minutes. Exiting out of the People Mover you are in P. Roma. The luggage storage facility is right out the door to the left. The ATVO express bus is to your right, tickets for the ATVO (5 euros including luggage)is 4 doors down from the luggage storage (5 euros for 24 hours). If you walk alittle further the ticket booth to the Vaporettos (we purchased the 36 hour option for 23 euros).

On departure day, when you exit the ship Princess provided shuttle buses to the terminal building which is right at the edge of the port. You can either carry your own luggage off (which is what we did - each with one large and one carry on) or have the ship take your luggage the night before. You pick up your luggage and walk a very short distance to the People Mover. It is very easy. No need for a cab.
