Thorhillcruiser Posted August 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2011 Caution if booking a new cruise while on board. While on the Silhouette I was quoted on a cruise for Dec 17 2011 on the Constellation. The deal was book a C3 and get a 2 category upgrade to a C1. What the res agent did not look at or advise that a senior's rate was available for a C2 with a savings of $265. Do your homework before you are pressured into thinking you are getting a deal. City_Woman Posted August 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2011 Hi there. I mostly book on board for the price + the onboard credit. Then, when I get home, I watch for price drops. You can get the price drop until final payment. Just my 2 cents. Judy

On HAL, we always buy a future cruise credit that is good for four years. Is this the same type of thing X offers or are you actually booking a specific cruise? Thanks for your advice. CRUZBUDS Posted August 26, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2011 You can actually book a specific cruise --- you can always move it to another date - no charge and it's fully refundable. (it least that's the way it was) We made the mistake of purchasing future cruise credits on board HAL -- we were not told and did not read the fine print that said it was not refundable. We had booked on board so many times on Celebrity and RCI that it never occurred to us to ask. It left a very bad taste in our mouth, but we'll enjoy our 18 canal cruise next year on the Zuiderdam. Why, oh why, can't Celbrity come up with a good trans-canal itinerary?
