Toto2Kansas Posted August 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2011 If you book a guarantee, you are not guaranteed a certain deck or area on the ship whatsoever. You are guaranteed a stateroom in the category you booked or a higher category (not necessairly higher as you could end up in the exact category you booked to begin with). You are allowing the cruise line to place you in any cabin they wish, in that category or above, and have no say so in where you end up.
paul929207 Posted August 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2011 You should never book a guarentee unless you would be happy with any cabin in the category you are booking and every higher category.

tennisobo Posted August 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2011 Just curious...what ship and what category guaranty did you book?
deminggraham Posted August 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2011 Just curious...what ship and what category guaranty did you book? I booked the lowest price balcony cabin on the Emerald in April and wound up in a BB cabin on Caribe deck. In May 2010 I booked the lowest price mini suite on the Caribbean and would up in an AA mini mid ship on Daulphin deck. I was very satisfied with both assignments. I would book guarantees again in the future.
Cruz-OR Posted August 28, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2011 Paul, What's likely to happen in the following scenario: We've booked a BE balcony gty, all the balcony cabins are or at least appear to be booked, most of the balcony categories are waitlisted, all the min-suites are waitlisted, only a few suite categories have unbooked cabins. How is Princess likely to assign cabins to all the gty bookings? Do they count on some cancellations or what?

Just because a cabin category is not available or is waitlisted doesn't mean that all the cabins in that category have actually been assigned as yet.
