mozzer Posted August 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2011 I read through all the threads about cabins and wanted to get some expert advice. Cabin 609 or 760 or 762. 609 is apparently above the theater but our TA said it was not loud. 760 and 762 are apparently under Le Grille. Was wondering if it would be too loud at night. Any advice? SweetCaroline74 Posted August 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2011 Hi mozzer! When are you sailing? We have cabin 760 on our upcoming 10-day cruise on Oct. 19th. I can give you full details when we get back, if it's not too late for you. 760 is under La Palette. I've read that the evening noise is not so bad given that people tend to go to bed early on this cruise. I always pack earplugs anyway as I'm a light sleeper; I'm sure they'll do the trick, if needed.
mozzer Posted August 29, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted August 29, 2011 We are going in December. It seems all the cabins on deck 6 are sold out, we got the last one. I still don't know if 609 is going to be loud or if we should do the 760's.
Silver Sweethearts Posted August 30, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2011 Think of it this way: IF you heard any noise from either Le Grand Salon (if you took 609) or La Palette (if you took 760 or 762), what would you rather hear? One evening show of limited duration finishing at a decent hour (Le Grand Salon) or an inside/outside night club scene (La Palette)with music until.... ? MotuIslander Posted August 30, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2011 We have been on the PG six times. Two years ago we were in 761. It is a LITTLE noisy if you are the early to bed type, but not so much that I would worry about it at all. That being said, every other sailing we have been on deck 4. We would rather do more cruise than spend more money on a stateroom that we are never in except to sleep. We really like being in the middle of the ship on longer sailings as it moves much less on open water. We spend ALL our time on deck or on shore and all of the rooms we are discussing are exactly the same size. Some have balconies, but as I said, we never used them as we were out experiencing life in French Polynesia. We sailed this year with a group of 14 repeat PG passengers and ALL of us were on deck 4 except for one couple on who was on deck 3!
JackieB Posted September 1, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 1, 2011 My wife and I just returned from the PG and were in cabin 765. We are seasoned aft cabin cruisers and availability of an aft cabin is usually a decision-maker for us. We would love to cruise the PG again someday, but would not do so in an aft. The music above is not too loud; we had confrontations with a group of 4 passengers who enjoyed dropping their chairs above our cabin at around midnight every night. When we confronted them and alerted the ship's staff, thay continued with their hilarity every night. This wasn't all of it though. We encountered some rougher seas on occasion and experienced a high level of rocking motion that truly did affect the aft more than the midship. We loved everything else about the PG and her staff.
