dentistmEL Posted September 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2011 A note before I begin: Due to Hurricane Irene, we were unable to go on our original cruise out of Florida. We booked the Celebrity Summit on Saturday for a sailing that left Bayonne on Monday August 29,2011. Also due to Hurricane Irene, the sailing was condensed to a six day cruise. Embarkation: The embarkation was a mess because the prior sailing was late in coming into Bayonne. We had to wait upwards of three hours to enter the ship and by the time we got on, it was already three pm. Then it was a mess in the dining area because everyone hoarded the buffet due to being extremely hungry. It wasn't necessarily the fault of Celebrity but it would have been nice to get some food while we waited. Stateroom: We booked the last stateroom on the ship and we got a beautiful balcony room mid ship on the seventh floor. I have never sailed with a balcony before and from now on this is the only way I will sail. It was delightful. There was more than apt room for your storage. I brought a big suitcase and everything fit in the cabinets and closet. The stewardess did a fabulous job of keeping the room tidy each night. The room always looked cleaned and organized. No towel animals but that didn't bother me at all. Entertainment: Some of the best on any of the ships I have been on. We had the pleasure of having Michele Balan, who was a finalist on America's Got Talent, and she was hysterical! If you go on this cruise, she is a must to see. There was also an excellent violinist. I never have brought the DVD's's before from the ship and this time I bought both of their DVD's. The Celebrity dancers/singers were also phenomenal. You will not be disappointed. Food: I rate the food a 3/5. The variety in the MDR is excellent. You will always find food that you like. There is some staples you can get every night in case you don't like something. The lobster to me was inedible but I am from New England, so I shouldn't have probably have tried it considering. The buffet at night is excellent! The sushi and Indian in the buffet is a must. I would also highly suggest going to the brunch on Saturday in the MDR. We did go to the one alternative restaurant on the ship. It was good but I don't know if it was worth the extra 35 dollars. I heard that when the ship goes into dry dock, they will be adding some more restaurants. Service: The service was excellent! The 1:2 ratio of crew/passengers really made the service incredible. We did have one huge problem with the casino pit boss who made the mistake of turning off the poker table when my husband would have won a big hand. They would not give the table back the money from that hand and not only was it their fault, but the pit boss had a terrible attitude. They compensated us with a bottle of wine but they really should have done more. Bermuda: We had bad weather but still enjoyed ourselves immensely. All in all, it was a great cruise and I would sail Celebrity again in a heartbeat. I have posted some more information, as well as pictures from my cruise on my blog at www.the-mommyhood-chronicles.com.
