eeyore81 Posted September 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Does anyone know if it is possible to do both in one day? If you can only do one, which would you choose? If we do not do whale watching in Bar Harbor, does anyone know if it is offered in Halifax or Saint Johns?
SailBadtheSinner Posted September 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co - http://www.barharborwhales.com/default.php Whale Watch Approximately 3 - 3 1/2 hours From 8/20-10/2: 8:30am & 1:00pm from 10/3- late Oct: 12:00 noon Olie's Trolley - http://www.acadiaislandtours.com/index.html Enjoy a 2½ hour fully narrated tour Acadia Nationa Park May through October, Daily Tours leave downtown Bar Harbor at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Since I believe you are sailing in mid-October, I don't think you can do both. If you can only do one, I would tour Acadia National Park because Bar Harbor is the only port of call that has tours of ANP. SBtS
Host Caroline Posted September 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2011 Also IMHO whale watching can be iffy as to what you see.. in Alaska the tours from Juneau, Sitka etc. see whales about 95% of time in more "confined" area.. there's a lot of ocean in the Atlantic and while the skippers sort of know where the whales are hanging out... I'd do ACP .. gorgeous place and Bar Harbor is charming town
