I got the answers to my questions. Thanks for everyone's help. We will sign up for tours once we know what we would like to see.

We are on this cruise and looking for a couple to share cost of a tour on Tuesday May 1St Florence, Ponte Vechhio, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens,etc then to Tuscany to San Gimigano and the Fattoria San Donato Winery. We had friends who did this with a priviate driver that we have already booked. cost of everything is same as one thing thru cruise line.
