Flyingfish Posted October 1, 2011 #27 Share Posted October 1, 2011 Just want to thank you both for sharing this wonderful voyage with us! I'm looking at next year, but having problems with my DH. He just can't get around leaving home for 70 days. I'll keep working on him in small dosages.
FoghornLeghorn Posted October 1, 2011 #28 Share Posted October 1, 2011 I am sooooo enjoying reading about your adventure. I'm also reading your blogs about your past cruises. Love your writing! and.... if you ever consider adopting a 50ish blonde who could help with luggage and typing to your blog... being your assistant for your cruises... I'm available :D:D
surfsidemary Posted October 1, 2011 #29 Share Posted October 1, 2011 Wonderful blog - and only on Day 3 so far! I see many are getting a preview of a Voyage they hope/plan to take. I am enjoying reliving it since I was on the 2010. Your descriptions are so vivid that I can feel how it was all over again. Enjoy - it's a trip I would like to repeat some day. I've put it on my Favorites bar so I don't miss a single day.

atraveller2 Posted October 5, 2011 #31 Share Posted October 5, 2011 Thanks Barbara and Orlin we are with you daily enjoying your journal as we are booked for the 2012 one. bet410 Posted October 5, 2011 #32 Share Posted October 5, 2011 I've bookmarked this blog so I can follow along with you. Just discovered your other blogs and am especially interested in reading the 2009 blog as we were on that cruise. (That was pre-Cruise Critic for us!) svalbard Posted October 5, 2011 #34 Share Posted October 5, 2011 Looking at the current location map in the blog, it kind of looks like they skipped Petropavlovsk?
bcummin Posted October 6, 2011 #35 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Good, positive posting from a unique port. I find it interesting that in 2007 one lone Russian official (a woman) checked passports, and we were ashore for our 9:45 HAL tour at 11:30 AM. I will always remember the man who said, "Welcome to Russia" as we climbed ashore. Barbara
candbgirl Posted October 7, 2011 #36 Share Posted October 7, 2011 Looking at the current location map in the blog, it kind of looks like they skipped Petropavlovsk? I read the blog today and they didn't skip Petropavlobsk. I found it interesting that Barbara and Orlinn and everyone else was free to roam the city. On 2008 in St. Petersberg we could go no place on our own. Very interesting blog. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=41.727171,-87.694896
wanderinggirl Posted October 7, 2011 #37 Share Posted October 7, 2011 I love their blogs. I think I've read all of them. Even went back and read the ones from a few years ago that I missed. They always seem to have a good time, no matter what happens. A lesson in there for all of us I think.
hillside Posted October 8, 2011 #38 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Have you visited the piano bar yet? We just heard that Stryker is the piano man. We really enjoyed him on the Statendam.
atraveller2 Posted October 9, 2011 #39 Share Posted October 9, 2011 FYI, Hal has just gone back to the original Japan itinerary for 2012 I guess half full ships don't help the bottom line. Past cruises: Epirotiki - Atlas 1983 7 days - Med. East + 5 day Greek landtour SunCruises -Carousel 1998 7 days - Carib. South SunCruises -Carousel 2001 14 days - Med.
