Any more news on the possibility of strikes? Certainly will hinder our pre-cruise Italy train/backpacking adventure... Plans to arrive in Rome on Sept. 20 to embark on the RCI NOS on Sept. 25th... Thanks.

There are no strikes scheduled for that period which would make a difference to you.

Plans are train from Rome to Venice, Venice to Florence, Florence to Rome, Rome to port. Thanks.

We were planning on taking the train today (from Venice) and found that there is a strike. Not all trains are affected but many have been cancelled and information on the still scheduled ones is sketchy. Their advice to get to the station and wait. My advice is to always make sure you have a plan "B" and plan "C".

The strike for Sept.17-18 was announced a while ago.

Strikes in Italy are announced ahead of time so not usually a surprise.

There are no strikes planned for Sept. 20-25.

I'll be there myself from 21-27 and am also planning on using trains.
