2LoveToTravel Posted September 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2011 We are taking our children and grandchildren to Bermuda by ship for my husbands 70th birthday with kids ages 7,9,13,15,16. Veendam docks in Hamilton and Celebrity in Dockyard. Hamilton is a central location and the Veendam is the only ship there for 4 days. Celebrity is at Dockyard with Norwegian at the same time....many more people and not as good a location. Celebrity seems to have more for the kids. Should we be more concerned about location of ship, or what the ship offers?????

Should we be more concerned about location of ship, or what the ship offers????? It depends....what doesen't lol. You'll have a 1.5 days over and 1.5 days back on the ship. That's when ship programming and features will matter most. The rest of the time you'll be in Bermuda docked and taking advantage of what the Islands have to offer. Certainly it is more advantageous to be in Hamilton which is central to the rest of Bermuda. In the past (pretty recent past actually) only ships going to and from Bermuda were in the small and medium catagory. Lots and lots of families took those cruises and had a great time. That said, what are the expectations of the parents and the kids and will they be met on a smaller ship? Certainly how you want to structure those day to and from Bermuda are key to deciding who and how to accomodate for a stress free week away. Krazy Kruizers Posted September 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2011 Being docked in Hamilton is a PLUS !! You all can get off the ship and go wherever you want to. It can be hassle for a large family to get around from the dockyard. None of the ships will have much going on in the children's program while the ships are docked as they expect people to be off the ship and touring around.
