fishtaco Posted November 11, 2011 #126 Share Posted November 11, 2011 I gained 10 lbs on my last 7 day cruise, but i will tell you that it was mostly water weight. Once I got home I lost 5 of the lbs within 2 days I agree! most of my cruses are for around 10-12 days and the weight gained is usually fluid and not the extra food so its gone within a few days. I got Dengue Fever in Bali and lost almost 5 kilos through dehydration in 4 days,i was nice and slim where did all that "fat" go? it soon came back during re hydration with very little food eaten. Fluid retention can be caused by too much diet soda and artificial sweeteners. Beer doesnt help but its great to drink more than you usually do at home:) Great to see so many trying to walk it off by always using the stairs, frees the lifts up for me:D Den
shootr Posted November 11, 2011 #127 Share Posted November 11, 2011 I'm back on track after lapsing in workout/eating focus, using our cruise next March as the "reason" (I actually just hated bouncing back up after being at a healthy weight for quite a while) Here's where I get a little gross, so bow out now if you have a sensitive constitution. I can gain 7 pounds in a week - cruise or no cruise, if I just pig out and don't do any significant workouts. Thing is, at least half of that gets pooped out over the next few days - it's just overfilled bowels getting back to normal. The rest goes away in a few weeks at the most after resuming my usual routine. So unless your challenging yourself to an eating contest at every meal on your trip, just enjoy the hard earned time off and take care of the result when you get home in a healthy, time managed way. Dee777 Posted November 11, 2011 #128 Share Posted November 11, 2011 As others have said, take the stairs, always. You will probably be more active than you think you will be on your cruise! Lots of walking to do in ports as well as swimming etc. if you like to do that too. Enjoy yourself and try the warm melting chocolate cake :D
beshears Posted November 16, 2011 #129 Share Posted November 16, 2011 This will seem a little off the subject, but still on the subject, if this makes sense? My friend and I normally like to "dress up" when we eat in the evening, not only for formal nights, but the other nights as well. So, I have some clothes that fit more snug than others that I wear in the evening, so I wear them first, so if I have gained a couple pounds, I still have clothes to wear the rest of the cruise in the evening. I STILL DO THE STEPS/WALKING to keep my weight down.:)
bumorgan Posted November 16, 2011 #130 Share Posted November 16, 2011 I sit at a desk 8 -11 hours a day. On a cruise between walking eating a lot more salads and fish dishes I usually stay the same weight or actually lose a couple of pounds.:) I also can spend 10 hours at a time in the casino, thank god there's no food there. Margaritaville TX Posted November 17, 2011 #131 Share Posted November 17, 2011 I just had my lapband tighten 9 days before my cruise to be sure I don't gain any.
