cruzmaven Posted September 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2011 For those who have stayed in these cabins (Deck 7 extended balcony cabins), is there any advantages/disadvantages to the forward cabins vs. the aft cabins? Any noise issues or other issues not apparent from the deck plans? Any particular cabin more or less favorable from the rest? Going to book something in the next day or two and want to know if there's something I should try to get or avoid. Thanks.

As I understand it, both forward and aft, the very first cabin, where the ship gets wider, can be very exposed. Of course, the open promenade on deck 6 (in this photo, to the left of the ships name) is only open to the crew unless there is an emergency, so you will only be "seen" from above, but that first balcony does look like it would be windy. cruzmaven Posted September 23, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted September 23, 2011 Well I booked 7110, which as best I can determine is the 2nd cabin in so, should have the benefits of the bigger balcony without the exposure of the 1st cabin. Also seems to be far enough forward so GDR shouldn't be an issue, even if for some reason its noisier than it was on Lyn's cruise. Thanks for your help. Also seems to be far enough forward so GDR shouldn't be an issue, even if for some reason its noisier than it was on Lyn's cruise. Thanks for your help. You made a good choice. Although one may enter the GDR from either side on the Marina, 90% of us use only the starboard side. This is partially because of the location of the casino, and partially sense memory left over from the R ships setup. As a result, the port side fills up last and empties first. Personally, I cannot imagine that Dining Room getting loud enough to be heard from the deck above anyway, but you'll have the comfort of being over the empty side of the room. Have a wonderful cruise and enjoy that bigger veranda! :D
hondorner Posted September 25, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2011 We were in 7108 on the Maiden Voyage, and will not book it again. There was no problem with the exposure to weather as you mentioned, in fact, the openess led o a much sunnier balcony. However, that particular cabin (and its twin on the opposite side) are exposed in the sense that if one is out at the edge, one can see back into many of the balconies and some of the cabins amidships. You won't have a problem with that in 7110. However, you may hear excessive noise from a crew elevator across the hall -- we did, in 7108 -- it may not reach 7110. Also, having enjoyed one of the standard depth balconies on the next leg of the voyage (to San Francisco), we like the shorter partitions between the balconies. I think the longer partitions on the deeper decks act to limit your view to that from inside a tunnel. Others enjoy the greater room. There were no noise issues from anywhere other than that crew elevator, which seemed to set up a resonance through the very structure of our cabin. It may have been remedied. jazznruby Posted March 17, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Is there anyone out there who's been in 7108 on Riviera, recently, who can speak to any issues with noise, as mentioned in earlier postings? Specifically, noise from the crew elevator? If so, overall, did you enjoy the cabin? Thanks so much.

JamesD263 Posted March 23, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2015 We have booked 7000 on the Riviera. It looks protected from the wind and sun. Has anyone had experience with 7000?
Max2 Posted March 24, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2015 Stayed in #7000 -- great and silent. Big balcony. BUT, the bridge was looking down at you all the time AND when the sea kicked up, your balcony was sprayed with salt and sea. So we did not enjoy the balcony as much. The room was wonderful.
