irish2005 Posted September 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2011 We are loyal RC cruisers but thinking of trying Glory to New England in Sept. 2012. Can anyone tell me what the smoking policy is as we are both smokers? Thanks in advance.
missypriss19 Posted September 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2011 You can smoke in the rooms as of December 1st but if you have a balcony you can smoke on the balcony as long as it is not a spa balcony. There are other smoking areas on the ship like the disco, part of the casino lido deck on one side. I am a smoker also and have never had any problems. Better yet, do a search here for smoking, otherwise, this thread is going to turn into once again another stupid smoking vs. non-smoking bashing event LOL! Carnival's new policy that smoking is prohibited in staterooms as of 12/1. You are correct in that smoking will be allowed on balconies. Carnival is also "limiting smoking on its ships to dance clubs, designated areas within the casino and casino bar and certain sections on the open decks"

You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding places to smoke, but they have gotten a bit more strict on where you can smoke. As of Dec 1, 2011, you won't be able to smoke in the cabin, so it'd be best to get a balcony.

firefly333 Posted September 26, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2011 You canNOT smoke in your cabin on your cruise date, and many smoking venues now are nonsmoking such as the cigar bar. No smoking on formal night I believe in the casino. They is a designated bar for smokers. Plus one side of the ship, in open areas. Bulldog3777 Posted September 26, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2011 I had not heard the no smoking in the casino on formal night. I know RC had that rule last time I sailed with them(18 months ago). But carnival?? I just read the contract info on smoking and did not see anything about formal nights. Anyone know for sure? B and C Blake Posted September 26, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 26, 2011 You can smoke in casino but you MUST be gambling within smoking only area. From CCL FAQ's Effective June 15, 2011, cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar. Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas (starboard side) of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz clubs of the following ships: Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Splendor. * All Spa suites and staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment. * Effective December 1, 2011, smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony. Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract. Note: Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas.

I just read it on one of the smoking threads when the policy got changed, so the person could have been wrong. I hope so. I am booked with a not happy smoker on one of my upcoming cruises next year. beddibi Posted September 26, 2011 #12 Share Posted September 26, 2011 I just got off the Miracle and spent alot of time in the casino. On both formal nights I was able to smoke in the casino in designated smoking areas. Also my room steward said that we could not smoke in our cabin. I knew this was wrong and did not go into effect until December. It didn't bother me because I don't smoke in my cabin anyways, only on the balcony.

Before that I got nothing, not even an email confirmation. I book on the CCL website. Bill On Carnival's website you can go to the "Manage My Cruise" button and access your cruise docs and all the Carnival info and policies - including your cruise contract. You can do this for any booked cruise - you don't need to wait til final payment.
