The Dream surprise trip report

After reading so many negative reports on the Dream I was a little apprehensive to go, but it was paid for and it was my anniversary so I was going to make the best of it...and I can tell you, it was great. I'll try to keep this report short.

Saturday embarking at Port Canaveral, a breeze. We walked on, our zone was called, we entered the ship. Perfect. This was at 12:00. No problem with the liquor either.

First had a hard time finding the dining room because we didn't read the little paper they gave us, so that was our fault, but we happened upon the Pasta Bar and were starving. Took about 15 min to get our food, it was good, not great. Caesar salad horrible, way to fishy. After lunch we headed to our spa room, took the spa tour and then headed back to our room to unpack. It took awhile to get our luggage. We met up at the Aft Wave Bar with some Cruise Critic members for a short meet and greet, how fun. Then we wanted to try the spa before dinner (we had the Anytime plan and loved it, never waited, asked for the same Server, always accommodated) The Therlasso pool, well, enough can't be said, and the heated loungers and just the quietness of the spa, excellent. I don't like you have to check in everyday and get a pass card, but I do understand why. Then on to dinner. We were seated win Elpedio's section, hes awesome. Even friends on FB with him now. His helpers, Henrick and Sebastian, are great too. If you are going to the Anytime in the Crimson room, ask for his section. Dinner was not good. I had the fried chicken and so called gravy. blah. My husband loved his sweet and sour shrimp though. Its not served in the sauce, I should have got that. Walked around and got famliar with the ship, and called it a night but not before hanging out my breakfast sign.

Sunday- breakfast arrived on time. Always be sure to write exactly what you want. I even asked for peanut butter for my banana and got it. Went to Cruise Critic meet and greet at The Song. Was fun to exchange gifts and I got yummy chocolates and talk with a lot of you that I would see later on in the cruise. Here was my biggest complaint on the ship day....NO SPORTS BAR. Well, they called it one, some little area by the Casino, but its not, and they couldn't get the games until half way through and only got two of them. This is the only Carnival Cruise Ship I have been on that didn't have a sports bar, and everyone was complaining. We did the Rasul couples room, $119.00 and such fun, except beware, the water is cold. I played the slots...never won. They don't hit. Had a great dinner that night. Oh ya, the Pop card, well, it advertises the tumblers, but they never did have them for 4.95. And yes, there was a smell on deck 12 spa rooms hallway at times, but not as bad as the smell on our balcony from inconsiderate neighbors. I had no idea the spa rooms would have kids, but our neighbors had a bunch, and proceeded to spray them down heavily with tan lotion and it wafted over and we couldn't even eat breakfast or drink coffee out there. There was a cloud of fog from in on our balcony, and needless to say, I was quite loud while choking about it and it didn't happen again.

Monday - breakfast on time, docked in Cozumel. Then we went down for some real breakfast. It wasn't good. Eggs benedict were hard, service was poor. Headed over to cozumel for nothing special except a little shopping Loaded up on liquor, better prices then the ship. Ate at Fat Tuesdays, was really good, prices good, service good. Loved it. Spent the afternoon in the spa, and hot tubs, no one around, was perfect. Pork dinner that night was good. Desserts, always great. Saw 2 sharks and 1 dolphin off the balcony that day too, was awesome.

More report to come later.
