account4fun Posted September 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2011 Are taxis large enough in Italy and Greece to accomodate 4 adults?
euro cruiser Posted September 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2011 This isn't going to be very helpful, but the answer for Italy is sometimes yes, and sometimes no. There aren't as many larger taxis, but you do find them; we got lucky in the rain one afternoon at the stand by the Colosseum and found one that could handle six of us. eh2zed Posted September 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2011 Most standard taxis can take 3 passengers in addition to the driver. But there also van taxis that can take more. Usually there are a number of them around.
letsgo39 Posted September 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2011 In June we took taxis that held 4 people everywhere in Rome but we did not have luggage with us. My son and Grandson are over 6ft and one of them always sat in the front seat and the other 3 of us were in the back. In Barcelona traveling to the port and hotel, when we had luggage we had to look for a taxi that was a little bigger to hold the 4 of us with our carry on held on our laps.Just make sure you always go to a taxi stand and don't try to hail a taxi on the street. We found with the limited amount of time in Rome on a port day the taxi was the best way to get around for all of us.Much of Rome is very walkable. Fblack Posted September 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2011 Most of the taxis we saw were 5 passenger vehicles and could handle 4 extra adults. It might be a little tight in the aback seats, but it works.
chipmaster Posted September 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2011 4 healthy americans or 4 "healthy" americans. If you fit comfortablly into the tightest of economy airplane seating with room to spare, no problem. If you overflow and are squeezed into your neighbor's personal space not so much :D We had no trouble a few years ago squeezing 4, think compact rental car in US. account4fun Posted September 28, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted September 28, 2011 We have 3 people at 6 feet or over and the one petite person in our group is claustrophobic (sp?) and won't sit in the middle.....I'm thinking we either get lucky with a biger taxi or we just take two.
