Spirit or Splendor

We are trying to decide between Spirit or Splendor Christmas cruise. We are seniors looking to spend the holiday on board a ship and we can drive

to CA. We sailed on the Spirit in 09 but never on the Splendor. Would like to hear from people who have sailed on both.

We have sailed both.

We are seniors also--65 and 63. Both of us have some issues with hips and knees.

I think Splendor is beautiful--DH did not. CCL cabins are fairly large, crew was great, food was good.

Parking was a bit of an issue, and unless you are Platinum or in a suite, embarkation is a zoo. Way too many people.

We had an L-shaped aft balcony cabin, which put us too far for anything going on at the other end.

There is the most beautiful black granite staircase going from the photo deck to the shopping, but the twinkle lights from the ceiling made it difficult for me with my bifocals. But it is pretty.

There are some 'traffic flow' glitches, and I didn't like having to walk past the smoky casino all the time.

That said~~I may sail Splendor again, but DH would rather not.

You have sailed Spirit, so you know all about things there.

If the size of Splendor, and the number of passengers isn't an issue, then I think you will enjoy her.

I am disabled, use a walker & have sailed Splendor & will sail her again in May.

Decor is a little flashy, & you have to go up or down a deck to get between the two MDRs (those things on the ceiling of the Golden Pearl are not eggs but pearls;) ). I love the ship & she gives me a good workout from Stern to Aft (hey I can afford another WCMC!)

Never been on Spirit, but I would recommend Splendor.

My vote is for the Spirit as she will be leaving early next year for Australia and you can still sail the Splendor at a later date. I am sailing her in March for the third time. Either way, have a fantastic cruise!!

I also vote for the Spirit. Love the Spirit class ships. I felt more claustrophobic on the Splendor than the Spirit.
