alreadypacked Posted October 2, 2012 #577 Share Posted October 2, 2012 Love her. She was very new when we had her on the Liberty last year, but she was fun Yep, we had Pollyanna on the Liberty last year too. She was new but we really enjoyed her--great personality, song list, happily takes requests, and does an awesome Michael Jackson medley that's a real crowd-pleaser! divetrash Posted October 8, 2012 #578 Share Posted October 8, 2012 Hard to believe they havent updated the list for Nov. sailings ,we are on The Liberty and I see our person leaves at the end of the month... The list on this thread is not updated by Carnival but by cruisers, entertainers and other crew sympathetic to our cause. Carnival does not officially release future dates publicly. They may have it scheduled, but the way we find out about future dates is either by the entertainer themselves (or a friend or family member or an agent) or by people within Carnival who have access to the list and want to help us out. I have a few queries out, hopefully the information will show up soon, but there is no guarantee. Happy Cruising, Laura
ShakyBeef Posted October 8, 2012 #579 Share Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Hi Laura, When we were on the Pride in August, Roger told us he would be back on the Pride starting in January. I don't remember if he said the date in January. Sorry.:o I don't know if this is official enough to update to your list, but this is what he told DH and me.:) Edited October 8, 2012 by ShakyBeef

BigDfromTN Posted October 12, 2012 #584 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Hello all, We are just back from the Elation and Beau Tahana was rocking the socks off the piano bar. Matter of fact he may have went a little too far the last night as Security took him out of the room for a little while at around 2:00 AM. We left and went to bed, but I was told he came back and played even more. In my opinion... He is not the very best vocalist I have heard but he does know how to please a crowd and Really likes audience feed back.

oncruisecontrol Posted October 15, 2012 #587 Share Posted October 15, 2012 We just disembarked the Freedom today, and I have a report on Martin Aucoin. Clearly, he is a very good keyboardist. There is no doubt he can play good piano. He has a nice personality, and I enjoyed my conversations with him. But, he does not sing well at all. My impression is that he is used to playing piano while someone else is singing. He does have a song list, but he has a very raspy voice. So, I requested "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart, which he did somewhat well. Had I stayed longer, I would have requested a Joe Cocker song. Another patron requested "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. He muddled through, but the few of us who were in there applauded him for his effort...and the fact that he seems to be a very nice guy. I think that Carnival is paying rock bottom wages for new piano singers, and they are requiring them to do other duties besides playing music. Consequently, they are not getting the best talent. Houst Posted October 15, 2012 #589 Share Posted October 15, 2012 The first Carnival Cruise (Triumph) I was on had a Guy named Mark Wieser "the Piano Whore" He was awsome. My friends found him one night. I had never been to a piano bar and thought it would be boring. His shift was scheduled to end around 1:00am. By the time he did quit it was 4:00am and he was getting $50.00 a song. So when we took are next cruise (Valor) one of the selling points of getting all of our friends (13 cabins) to go was how great a piano bar is. It was horrible we went twice stayed maybe 1/2 an hour. I don't know the guys name but he didn't speak english vey well let alone sing. It was sad. The last Cruise we went on (Splendor) It was just ok. love2sale Posted October 15, 2012 #590 Share Posted October 15, 2012 Just got off the Triumph where I spent most evenings in the piano bar with Frank Glenn. He was very funny and entertaining. He plays a good selection of the classic singalongs along with some more unusual stuff to keep things interesting. I've never heard anyone play the theme to Gilligan's Island in the piano bar before! It was a very good time each and every night I was there. So glad to have found your review... I love hanging out in the piano bar. Board Thursday so glad to hear we will be having someone fun! Tripper10 Posted October 15, 2012 #591 Share Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Vince Strong aboard the Freedom. People tipping (not part of the auto tips, lol) him to stay playing until 1 am almost every night. Good times. This was back in 2008ish I think. I first tried the cruise ship piano bar in 2007 on the Victory, after going to a piano bar in the Bahamas at an all-inclusive where the singer was awesome! We loved the piano bar on cruise ships until 2010, when it started to decline. We'd heard grumbles from piano players of the increasing non-performing duties that Carnival requires of them. I'm starting to believe this. On my recent Oct 6 Freedom cruise, when I got back on thie ship from Aruba, the individual "dinging" my sail n sign was one of the dancers, as evidenced by her nametag. I was like, "Wow, you're a dancer!" She said, "Yes, we help out everywhere." Never saw that before.
