stillcruisin' Posted October 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2011 My husband and I are doing a Discover Scuba dive in Roatan in December. We'll be diving at Mandy's Eel Garden with Bananarama. We watched some YouTube videos of Mandy's and were not impressed. We were hoping to see some bright, colorful fish, possibly some sea turtles. We didn't see any of this on the videos. What type of sea life should we expect to see? Anything bright and colorful? Is it worth it to even do this excursion?
Laurie S. Posted October 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Turtles, lobsters, eels, all kinds of fish, you name it, you likely will see it there.
cardbucfan Posted October 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2011 I dove Roatan last year on the Carnival Legend. It was probably the best dive spot in terms of fish and coral-we got in the water in a school of MASSIVE grouper that had you saying "OMG!!" in your reg! Now, the dive operator, didn't love them so much but we were brand spanking new divers and got caught up in the "herd" and the DM's weren't very personable but the stuff we saw was definitely worth it. Friends of ours did this same itinerary in August and dove the same spots (Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Roatan and Belize) and they agreed that the "scenery" was the best on Roatan.
