lea Posted October 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2011 We booked a guaranteed room on the Legend now sailing in about a month. (Nov 13) Can anyone tell us when we should expect to hear what our room is? I thought it would be about now. I was also hoping to hear about a potential upgrade for not much more, that happened to us once before on Carnival. Thanks.

Good luck.

lea Posted October 10, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted October 10, 2011 DId you get a better than expected room since you waited so late?
firefly333 Posted October 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2011 I booked late and only higher category cabins were left, but then the upgrade fairy started to call my roll call, and I got a lower category cabin, 3 days before sailing. Carnival hasnt done much for free upgrades with gtys, but then I havent paid much for them either. Best to be prepared for the lowest category of what you booked. Im still TBA for Nov 7th myself .. and a senior rate came along for gty and since I wasnt assigned, I could price match to the new rate .. or so I hope. Have not yet heard back from the price drop folks.
klsimpson Posted October 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 10, 2011 We sail in 1 week and we just got our cabin number at 14 days. We booked a guarantee inside and the only deck included was Riviera. You paid extra for any deck higher. when we got our cabin number we were on the upper deck. So we were upgraded. This is my first cruise, so I'm not sure if it will make much difference but I was happy about it. Even if it wasn't a big one.
bazarr2 Posted October 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 10, 2011 Last time we heard only a few days before and we may have went up one deck, so no, there were no big upgrades the longer you wait, they probably were already picked long in advance and just held until then. ;(
Angie21456 Posted October 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 10, 2011 I went on a cruise in July and didn't receive my room assignment until the day before the cruise. We were moved up 6 or 7 decks from our original assignment, so I was thrilled.
Colorado Kat Posted October 10, 2011 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2011 DId you get a better than expected room since you waited so late? We still technically got what we booked - an Oceanview. But the cabin was up on the Spa deck, with floor to ceiling windows. We were quite pleased.
LemurCat Posted October 10, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 10, 2011 Last time I booked a guarantee, I didn't know what room I'd be in until we pulled up to the port and the porters re-tagged the bags. (Not that it matters much when you're booking an inside. It's not like there's any windows.)
