Bringing liquor on board?

What is the policy on O ships about wine/liquor? They have told us we are allowed to bring onboard only 3 bottles of wine, no liquor. I have read on several posts that they do allow you to bring onboard these items....from those who have cruised with them before, what is the truth? Several other lines we have cruised with have a no bringing aboard policy, but don't inforce it, is this true for O.? Also, the cost to purchase a bottle of say scotch from room service is quoted at $100.00!! Is this true? Thanks for any info on this...

We have been allowed to bring both onboard for personal use in your cabin

If you take the wine to the dining venues there is a corkage fee

If you search Alcohol policies here there are lots of discussions on the topic

We just returned from an O cruise, and we brought 2 Fifths of Jack Daniels and wine onboard without a question from staff. We also purchased wine in port and brought it onboard. We were supplied nightly with ice and there is a wine opener in the room. They also brought us wine glasses when we requested them. We talked to many others who brought wine and alcohol onboard, without any issues. One person brought a case of wine. So, bring what you want. We bought ours in the duty-free shop enroute to embarkation. Don't buy it onboard if you can avoid it, since it is fairly expensive. But kudos to O for this nice policy.

The discussion among all the posts I've seen seems to be that the rule is in place to discourage misuse of the alcohol. Therefore, although O doesn't enforce their stated rules, they retain the right to confiscate any alcohol brought on board if one does not drink responsibly.
