Swann5 Posted October 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2011 How early have you been able to get off the Liberty? We’re trying to decide if we can make an 11:00 AM International flight back home. Thanks for your input! Happy Thanksgiving to all our fellow Canadians today and to our neighbors in a few weeks! :)
LemurCat Posted October 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2011 How early have you been able to get off the Liberty? Happy Thanksgiving to all our fellow Canadians today and to our neighbors in a few weeks! :) It will depend on how long it takes the ship to clear customs, as well as the weather conditions on that particular day. As you can see from below the board, if there are adverse sea conditions, it could keep your ship from docking in an expedient manner and thus delay your departure. Also, I believe non-US citizen cruisers have a special debarkation process for going through customs. You might be cutting it a might close. But hey, Happy Thanksgiving! Nicholas II Posted October 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2011 We have tried the new self-debarkation program on the Valor this year. You can take your luggage and get off the ship since they call the first zone for debarkation. We did it very quick.
*Libby* Posted October 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2011 Hi Swann, we did self debarkation when we were on the Liberty in May. We were off the ship not long after 7.00am if I remember correctly. We left our cabin and went to the theatre, were literally there 5mins, and it was announced that we could leave the ship. Straight off the ship with our luggage and we were the first non-US citizens to go through customs. The two very nice ladies asked us if we'd had a nice cruise, asked a few other social questions and off we went - quick and painless! :)
beachbum53 Posted October 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Spell check! You "debark" a tree. You "disembark" from a ship. Unless of course you don't bathe for the duration of your cruise. Then you might need to be debarked. But that could be painful!
Forchunut1 Posted October 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Actually: "debarkation - the act of passengers and crew getting off of a ship or aircraft" No spell check needed here! :D

Colorado Kat Posted October 11, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2011 If you do the self-assist debarkation, you need to be able to handle your own luggage.
